XEN Full virtualization -- unstable network: overload?

0
0

Hi

I have got new VPS XEN Full virtualization server / 100Mb port What I am seeing for the third day is low bandwidth rates (lower 5MB/s) and 15ms latency to DE-CIX. Also see large StDevs on every hop -- the network is very unstable, (it is Accelerated based, so I guess uplink is not a problem). Do you think the problem is with the host machine?

Is it worthing paying for a "premium" DNS service?

0
0

Can anyone tell me if it's worth paying for a premium DNS hosting for a website where speed and uptime are critical, with a primarily US-based audience?

I have a website that currently uses Namecheap's free DNS servers, and I'm wondering if paying for something like ClouDNS would be worthwhile. This is unfortunately an area where I have little knowledge.

I also considered hosting my own DNS servers, but it seems like more trouble than it's worth.

Sick of spam

I'm totally sick of spam e-mail and the way i see it is i have three options, which are:

  1. setup ASSP or some other spam filtering proxy to filter the mail and pass it to my current host or

  2. Take charge of my e-mail and setup a full mail server (probably using something like mail in a box)

  3. pass it to someone who only does e-mail (and has decent spam filtering)

what would you do? why? and any recommendations greatly received.

thanks

Who really prefers BitCoin?

LET seem to have a lot of members actually prefer BTC. Im curios, who and why would BTC be preferable?

For sellers/service providers, the non-reversible nature of BTC is obviously attractive but does anyone actually hold BTC or do most simply convert for 'real' money straight away?

What about buyer's reasons? Curious to know!

RAID5 vs RAID10 for VPS

Is it worth it?

Softether on NAT VPS and OS X clients

Hi,

I've setup Softether on a Lowendspirit VPS to test. Since this is NAT only I can't use default ports for my VPN. I would need to specify the port when connecting but the default OSX IPSEC VPN options doesn't allow me to do so.

Which utility's allow for custom port specification or should I just ditch IPSEC and go OpenVPN and use Viscosity or Tunnelblick?

Any idea's?

Thanks,

Meet Alphabet - Google's new parent company

Our company is operating well today, but we think we can make it cleaner and more accountable. So we are creating a new company, called Alphabet (http://abc.xyz). I am really excited to be running Alphabet as CEO with help from my capable partner, Sergey, as President.

What is Alphabet? Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies. The largest of which, of course, is Google. This newer Google is a bit slimmed down, with the companies that are pretty far afield of our main Internet products contained in Alphabet instead. What do we mean by far afield? Good examples are our health efforts: Life Sciences (that works on the glucose-sensing contact lens), and Calico (focused on longevity). Fundamentally, we believe this allows us more management scale, as we can run things independently that aren’t very related. Alphabet is about businesses prospering through strong leaders and independence.

introduce proxmox to all of you

I found that some of you are using that lame virtualizator.

why not change to the best and free thing, proxmox VE?

proxmox VE is an old & stable VPS control panel.

not like solusvm / virtualizator, I got absolutely no issues with this panel.

you can try it @ proxmox.com

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good self-hosted (not a widget) html5 speedtest? I have been using speedtest mini for years but would like something that is compatible with mobile so no flash. I found openspeedtest.com and tried it out but it is still a little buggy and not going to be free forever. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks!

Just received this. Anyone using their services received a similar email ? Seems they confuse definition of application hosting, and whatever says 'cloud' is simply banned.

Surpised it hasn't been posted here yet.

But I just seen this thread over @ vpsBoard that Crissic was acquired by Quadranet

https://vpsboard.com/topic/7594-crissic-has-been-acquired-by-quadranet/

Hello,
Crissic has been acquired by QuadraNet.

QuadraNet has decided to keep inventory "out of stock" and will no longer be accepting new customers or additional orders via the Crissic brand. We ask that current customers who are interested in purchasing additional services check out https://www.quadranet.com/cloud/ and https://www.quadranet.com/

Alternatively, if customers are interested in consolidating multiple VPS into one dedicated server, QuadraNet can certainly assist with providing a competitive quote! Please e-mail sales@quadranet.com
